Animal Welfare and Science Teacher – Exotics and Husbandry

The role:

We are seeking a full-time teacher to join our Animal Welfare and Science Department to deliver inspiring theory and beyond the classroom practical teaching. We have two animal collections on-site for teachers to conduct practical sessions. Coneygar is the main hub for the department and where your office and practical rooms are based. We have a wide range of small, domestic and exotic animals just outside the classroom. The Animal Park is most commonly known as a local tourist attraction with free access to the public, however, it is also home to our birds of prey, livestock and equids collection. This role will focus on Exotics and Husbandry units and there might be an opportunity to teach on one of our current or new HE courses that will be delivered from September.

This role would suit either a candidate with previous teaching experience delivering to a range of learners on Level 1-3 or an experienced industry professional who’s passionate about educating looking for a career change. Ideally you will already hold a Teaching Qualification, but for the right candidate who has industry experience and a desire to get into teaching, Kingston Maurward actively support staff to achieve their Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, a good role model for our future animal carers with a desire to give our learners an exceptional learning experience. You will preferably hold graduate or equivalent level qualifications in an animal-related subject and have sound administrative and organisational skills.

Hours:

37 hours per week, Monday – Friday with flexibility to meet business needs.

 

Salary:

£23,325 – £29,046 per annum depending upon qualifications and experience which is points L4b – L9c on the Academic Staff Salary Scale.
