Success for Kingston Maurward Summer Spectacular!
The sun shone down on thousands of visitors this weekend’s annual Open Day and Country Fair at Kingston Maurward College – with a record number of visitors coming through the gates.
A spectacular centrepiece showcased the Main House with inspirational planted displays surrounding a Massey Ferguson tractor – kindly loaned for the event by Hywood Agricultural and Groundcare – including leafy jodhpurs, budding construction helmets and even a floral toilet, all illustrating the ‘Grow’ theme of this year’s event.
People of all ages enjoyed fine food and drink and picnicked on the lawn whilst watching live music on the waterside stage including Carissa Berry, Ansell and Gretel and Lauren Bannon to a backdrop of the ever-popular kayaking on the lake by visitors and students alike.
Onlookers were treated to fitness demonstrations and disciplines performed lakeside by Outdoor Adventure, Army Preparation and Uniformed Public Services students.
New students starting in September toured their academy areas and were welcomed to the College in preparation for their enrolment at the end of August.
Visitors too enjoyed a day packed full of activities across campus including tractor driving, pony rides, meet the animals, tree climbing – plus dog shows all afternoon.
Impressive equestrian displays in the arena and demonstrations throughout the day proved ever popular, along with family fun at the Animal Park with circus skills, bouncy castle, competitions and even Alice in Wonderland!
Kingston Maurward College Principal, Clare Davison, said: “This year’s event has been the best we’ve ever held. The atmosphere was wonderful – everyone was smiling and people were taking part in all of the activities. Students and staff worked really hard to make this day special for everyone to enjoy the magic of Kingston Maurward!”
