Study floristry and achieve Level 3 qualification and skills in only one year with the Subsidiary Diploma in Floristry; a chance to further develop your floristry skills by experimenting with textures, flowers and creativity.

Develop an awareness of business management, retailing and customer service skills whilst studying large event designs and trends in cut flowers. Experiment with commercial and contemporary materials to develop your skills within a vocational context and carry out work experience with an industry provider. Part-Time options may be available for mature learners.

We have an excellent reputation for encouraging students to participate in large scale floral events for the college to learn professional techniques in event scale work. Opportunities are given to students to undertake larger event design and learn the skills involved in budgeting and time management of such work. We work closely with many employers within the industry and the British Florist Association to ensure we offer the best possible opportunities for career progression.

Course Content

Units include:
Understanding floristry design
Plan, assemble and evaluate diverse wedding designs
Understanding floristry marketing strategies
Principles of flowers and foliage
Practical conditioning and use of flowers and foliage materials
Understanding historical floristry designs
Plan, assemble and evaluate diverse sympathy designs
Industry experience.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs minimum grades 9-4 or A*-C, including English and maths. Level 2 floristry qualification. You will be required to complete a work placement. Tetanus protection is recommended.
