This Rugby pathway allows you to studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport whilst continue developing your own Rugby performance and coaching skills and compete at college level in one of the UKs fastest growing competitive sports.

The qualification will enable you to explore subjects such as Nutrition, Anatomy and Physiology and Sports Psychology and will give you an insight into Fitness and Performance Training programme development for amateur to elite performers.

Course Content

Year 1 units include:
Anatomy & physiology
Physiology of fitness
Assessing risk in sport
Fitness training & programming
Sports coaching
Fitness testing
Practical sport
Current issues in sport
Exercise, health & lifestyle
Work experience.
(Two units are exam based and are externally assessed)

Year 2 units include:
Current issues in sport
Practical sport
Sports coaching
Sports development
Instructing physical activity
Exercise for specific groups
Rules, regulations & officiating
Organising sports events
Sports legacy development.
(Four units are exam based and are externally assessed)

Plus:
Entry in the British colleges' football leagues as well as a wide range of fitness opportunities
Football coaching and developmental fitness training
Functional skills/English and maths GCSE
First aid qualification.

Option to include (additional cost):
Gym and fitness instructing qualification.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at minimum grades 9-4 or A*-C, including English, maths and a science or PE OR a Level 2 Diploma at Merit level including English and maths grades 9-4 or A*- C. You will need enthusiasm and a keen interest in sport.

A full kit list will be provided before the start of the course. Suitable outdoor clothing - the clothing must be suitable for environment, climate and time of year. Appropriate footwear. KMC polo shirt.
