This two year course is equivalent to 3 A Levels and is an ideal qualification for school leavers and mature students to learn horticulture at a higher level. It enables those who already have some experience to develop expertise in a wide range of subjects relevant to the industry.

Using our fantastic campus facilities, including newly re-developed glasshouses, you will gain a broad understanding in a range of horticultural subjects including applied plant science, turf management and garden design.

There will be opportunities to meet with industry experts and potential employers and to showcase your skills to local clients by becoming involved in College-supported community and private projects.

The qualification is supported by: The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA), The Greenkeepers Training Committee (GTC) and British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI).

Next Steps

4 GCSEs at grade 4/5 or above, including English, maths and a science OR a relevant Level 2 Certificate at Distinction level OR an Apprenticeship in horticulture with good levels of maths and English. Mature students lacking formal qualifications will also be considered. Enthusiasm, relevant practical experience, a keen and active interest in commercial gardening and landscaping with the ability to cope with written work is required.
