This course provides the knowledge and skills needed by the modern farm worker who may be aspiring to be a craftsperson or take supervisory responsibility. It will develop key practical skills. For the L3 Diploma option:-
It is essential that you have access to jobs involving livestock and crop production in order for practical assessments to be completed in the workplace.

C&G Level 3 Diploma in Work-based Agriculture (Mixed Farming) OR College Certificate in Mixed Farming

Course Content

This is a 27 day course taught over 8 months that covers:

Livestock production: breeding, parturition, raising young stock, feeding, housing, production systems, grassland management, health, waste management
Crop production: crop husbandry, cultivation, growth, harvesting and storage and unwanted vegetation
Mechanisation: getting the most out of modern farm machinery
Keeping the necessary records and meeting legislative requirements
The course includes practical skills development, including training towards the City & Guilds (NPTC) Certificate of Competence in Safe Use of Veterinary Medicines (the assessment fee for this qualification may be extra) and the option to complete C&G (NPTC) Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1 and PA2) - fees will apply.

Entry Requirements

Must have achieved either L2 Diploma Work Based Agriculture or L2 Diploma in Agriculture and 1 year full time industry experience, or 3 years full time industry experience if no formal qualifications, L2 Agricultural Tractor Driving, i.e., Related Operations (Tractor Driving Competency). Maths GCSE C Grade English Language GCSE C Grade or L1 Functional Skills.
