C&G Level 3 Diploma in Work-based Agriculture (Mixed Farming) OR College Certificate in Mixed Farming
This is a 27 day course taught over 8 months that covers:
Livestock production: breeding, parturition, raising young stock, feeding, housing, production systems, grassland management, health, waste management
Crop production: crop husbandry, cultivation, growth, harvesting and storage and unwanted vegetation
Mechanisation: getting the most out of modern farm machinery
Keeping the necessary records and meeting legislative requirements
The course includes practical skills development, including training towards the City & Guilds (NPTC) Certificate of Competence in Safe Use of Veterinary Medicines (the assessment fee for this qualification may be extra) and the option to complete C&G (NPTC) Safe Use of Pesticides (PA1 and PA2) - fees will apply.
Must have achieved either L2 Diploma Work Based Agriculture or L2 Diploma in Agriculture and 1 year full time industry experience, or 3 years full time industry experience if no formal qualifications, L2 Agricultural Tractor Driving, i.e., Related Operations (Tractor Driving Competency).
Maths GCSE C Grade
English Language GCSE C Grade or L1 Functional Skills.
Apprenticeship, other part-time agriculture courses, e.g., ATVs and Telehandlers
Farmer, Herdsperson, Herd Manager, Farm Worker (livestock or crops), Unit Supervisor, Farm Secretary, Farm Manager, other sales or technical jobs in the agricultural industry/supply chain
