If you are looking for a higher level career working with horses, perhaps at supervisor or manager level, this two year course is ideal. Offering the perfect balance between theory and practical based learning, you will gain all the skills you need to enter a variety of careers within the industry or achieve UCAS points for higher education.

British Hose Society (BHS) training is offered as an integral part of this course (exam fees not included). These professional exams ensure you leave the College with internationally recognised qualifications. You will also enjoy a mix of lectures, practical sessions and work experience on our yard, plus hear expert advice from visiting speakers and take part in visits to equine establishments. There is also a study tour and, where possible, trips to Badminton Horse Trials, Olympis etc. may be arranged (additional costs involved).

A 2 week Work placement is included throughout the programme which gives you the chance to gain valuable knowledge with a wide range of specialist work providers. Many students have secured jobs through their work experience. Students also take part in weeklye yard duties on a rota basis at Manor Stables to develop employability skills, assist and develop knowledge of our commerical activities.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English, maths and science OR a Level 2 Diploma in Horse Care at Distinction Level PLUS 2 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, including English and maths. A determination to succeed together with the ability to ride at BHS Stage 1 Level and some experience riding over fences. You must be prepared to work outside in all weathers. The Equine Academy has a weight limit of 85kg (13 Stone 5 llbs) for all riders. A non-riding option is available.
