This apprenticeship will enable you to gain the knowledge and skills that you need to carry out your role and to further your career. You will be carrying out a range of moving, packaging and stock-taking duties in a warehouse environment and you may also be required to safely use a range of equipment, machinery and vehicles.

Course Content

You will be required to demonstrate your knowledge, skills and behaviour regardless of your occupational area. These include:

Warehouse practices and processes - including deliveries, dispatch, maintaining records, moving stock, packing and storing goods
Using warehouse equipment, machinery and vehicles - including mechanical racking systems and materials handling equipment (MHE) such as forklifts and pallet trucks
Using basic IT - including barcoding, data capture, radio and warehousing management software and systems
Communicating effectively with colleagues, customers, third party carriers and other organisations
Health and safety practices, procedures and regulations within a warehouse environment - including safe driving and operating techniques and working safely at heights

If you do not already hold Level 1 Functional Skills in maths and English (GCSE grade 2 or E), you will need to achieve this level and take the test for Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English prior to taking the end-point assessment.

Entry Requirements

GCSE grade 2 or E in maths and English or level 1 functional skills in maths and English. Entry is subject to a successful interview and you will undertake an initial assessment in maths and English regardless of previous qualifications. You must be working under a suitable and relevant contract of employment for a minimum of 30 hours a week. If you do not have an employer, we may be able to help you find one.

Next Steps

You will have the opportunity to progress on to a higher level apprenticeship standard or to continue working within the industry.

Career Opportunities

On completion of this Apprenticeship you may go into a job as a Warehouse Operations Team Member or with further development and training (e.g. in-house/external development) into the following jobs: Team Leader Warehouse Manager Transport Manager
