Take on the challenge to further develop your skills and knowledge by going on outdoor adventures on-site and in the local area, learn a wide range of outdoor activities and apply your training from the practical sessions to the classroom.

Units include:
Practical land and water-based outdoor and adventurous activities
Land and water-based outdoor and adventurous activity leadership
Fitness for sport and exercise
Practical sports performance
Carrying out a sports-related project
The mind and sports performance
The sports performer in action
Training for personal fitness
Anatomy and physiology for sports performance
Expedition experience
Work experience.

Outdoor activities on this course include:
Kayaking, canoeing, rockclimbing, bouldering, abseiling, walking, campcraft and a camping expedition.

You will also have the opportunity to gain the British Canoe Union 2 Star Award on the days you are not at college.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at minimum grades 3/D, including English and maths. You will need a keen interest and lots of enthusiasm for outdoor activities and activity leadership.

Materials Required

Basic stationery - pens, pencils, A4 level arch files, ruler and eraser. Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear - the clothing must be suitable for the activity environment, climate and time of year. Polo shirts and sweatshirt are available for purchase at college.
