The Children and Young People’s Workforce Apprenticeship gives you a fulfilling opportunity to work with children and young people. It ensures that childcare theory is put into practice whilst gaining an understanding into the ‘hows’ and ‘whys’ of their development. As an apprentice, the exact nature of your job role will depend on your employer.

The Intermediate Apprenticeship is for those working under supervision such as a nursery assistant or playgroup assistant working with children under five.

Course Content

Child and young person development
Contribute to the support of child and young person development
Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
Contribute to children and young people's health and safety
Introduction to communication in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
Introduction to personal development in health, social care or children's and young people’s settings
Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings

Level 2 English Functional Skills/GCSE and Level 1 Mathematics and ICT Functional Skills/GCSE if required.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements but you will be required to take an English and maths assessment. You will be keen to learn new skills and have an enthusiasm for the subject. You will be required to find suitable relevant employment. Mature students will be considered based on previous experience.
