Basic Chainsaw Certificate of Competence covering Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross Cutting Timber. It is a legal requirement under the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations to hold a Chainsaw Certificate of Competence. Formerly CS30.1 and CS30.2.

Assessment is carried out on a separate day by arrangement.

Materials Required

Writing materials - notebook and pen. Packed lunch and drink, especially if we are working away from college all day. Chainsaw Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to current industry standards is required for this course. Work equipment, PPE, etc., are available from the college, but candidates’ own may be used, subject to checks by the instructor. National Insurance (NI) number. Waterproofs/change of clothes in case of inclement weather.
