CS203 (formerly CS31), this wholly practical based 3-day course deals with the Felling of Small Trees (380mm (15") in diameter or less at their base) and their subsequent breakdown. Subjects include Health & Safety regulations, use of felling aids, de-limbing, cross-cutting.

Assessment is carried out on a separate day by arrangement.

Course fees include:- equipment, training assessment, access to suitable sites for training and assessment.

Current Health & Safety regulations
Felling of conifer and/or broadleaves up to 380mm (15") diameter - upright and leaning tree
Use of felling aids
De-limbing
Cross-cutting and stacking
Take down of hung up trees

Entry Requirements

CS201/202 - Chainsaw Maintenance (formerly CS30) - or equivalent Students must be aged 16 or over on 1st September of the year in which the course starts Tetanus protection is recommended.

Materials Required

Writing materials - notebook and pen. Packed lunch and drink, especially if we are working away from college all day. Chainsaw Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to current industry standards is required for this course. Work equipment, PPE, etc., are available from the college, but candidates’ own may be used, subject to checks by the instructor. National Insurance (NI) number. Waterproofs/change of clothes in case of inclement weather.
