The Retail Apprenticeship is designed to provide apprentices with the knowledge, skills and understanding they require to carry out their job role and to support their future progression within the retail sector.

Advanced Apprentices will train as Senior Sales Assistants, supervisors or team leaders and may be managing and supporting a small team of retail assistants, or a department. Their role will be to motivate the team and to help the company achieve their goals and objectives.

Course Content

Auditing Stock
Sourcing products to sell
Monitor food safety
Manage staff to receive deliveries
Manage payment process
Produce staff rotas
Ensure team meets targets
Organise the delivery of customer service
Employment Rights and Responsibilities (ERR)
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
Functional Skills in English and maths depending upon GCSE achievement.

Delivery of this Apprenticeship Framework is in the workplace. No college attendance is required.

Entry Requirements

Candidates need to be working in a retail environment to complete the apprenticeship with the whole apprenticeship being carried out in the workplace.

You will be required to find suitable relevant employment.

Advanced Apprentices should be working at a Supervisor/Team Leader level.

Next Steps

With further training, progress into more senior roles such as team or branch managers.

On completion of this Apprenticeship, apprentices will be competent to works as a senior sales assistant or team leader. Following further training and development, apprentices may wish to progress into more senior roles such as team or branch managers.
