Ploughing match organisers hand over the reins to Kingston Maurward College

The ever popular annual ploughing match organised by Kingston Maurward Association (KMA) will now be run by Kingston Maurward College, due to the Association’s disbandment.

Kingston Maurward College Agricultural teachers Mark Hymas and Dan Sparshott offered to take over the event when they heard KMA’s plans, and are pleased to be able to take the lead.

Mark Hymas said: “We’re delighted to be able to take on such a great event; the Kingston Maurward Association has done a fantastic job for the last 28 years and will be a tough act to follow. We will do our very best to continue the standard set, and keep this exciting tradition as popular as ever. ”

The ploughing match, now in its 29th year, will take place this year on Saturday 17th March in Kingston Maurward’s Drail field as usual. Visitors are welcome to watch the agricultural spectacle and learn the complexities of good ploughing.

There are twelve categories and winners will be chosen by the six judge panel; Kingston Maurward Principal, Luke Rake, will present certificates to the winners between 2pm-3pm.

Refreshments will be available and a raffle will take place – all proceeds in aid of Kingston Maurward Foundation and the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.
