Welcome to the Kingston Maurward Parks Training
Kingston Maurward College has worked closely with parks across the country for many years delivering industry specific training relevant to a park environment.
With extensive knowledge of the industry our trainers and assessors are very aware of just how competitive and event driven the nature of the business can be.
We offer a wide range of training courses designed specifically for Parks. Whether you work for a park home estate, touring and tenting park, caravan park, holiday home park, chalet park or self-catering accommodation, we have a course that will help your business.
Managing a park can be a complex business. As the industry grows, there is an expectation that all staff are professionally qualified and fully aware of all the issues facing today’s modern business. Our range of courses can help you become more competitive, ensure you meet health & safety standards and service levels and train the managers of the future.
In this section you will find the industry specific training and assessment that has been designed for park staff, including training for:
- Directors, managers, supervisors and those seeking promotion
- Hospitality teams on front of house and retail
- Operational teams working in maintenance, housekeeping and groundwork
We work in partnership with the British Holiday & Home Parks Association (BH&HPA), Caravan Industry Training (CITO) and the Institute of Hospitality.
While Kingston Maurward College is based in Dorset, we offer many of these training courses on a national basis.

Intermediate & Advanced Apprenticeships
Your business success relies on a good, motivated workforce. But where can you find affordable, hard working staff willing to learn? Apprentices make a valuable contribution to your business by enabling you to recruit and train new employees whilst boosting the skills of your existing staff.
Apprenticeships are available for young people aged 16-18 and for adults age 19+.
Apprenticeships offer your employees a work based package of quality, structured training specifically tailored to the requirements of the job they are employed to do, with recognised qualifications at the end.
An Advanced Apprenticeship is also available as a progression or for direct entry depending on the needs of the park and the ability of the employee.

Intermediate Apprenticeships in Leisure Operations
The Intermediate Apprenticeship in Leisure Operations is ideal for park employees working in an operational role – whether they are a team leader, a ‘practical doer’, or they work in reception, administration, retail or leisure.
The Intermediate Apprenticeship framework is made up of four parts:
NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Operational Services (competence element – being able to do work tasks properly).
This NVQ is a specially developed work based qualification designed by the parks industry to prove the competence of the workforce. It is based on National Occupational Standards – specifications of what work is actually done, and to what standard. It is ‘proof of competence’ and assesses the skills and knowledge employees need to perform their job role safely and effectively. Because each park is different the qualification offers a very wide choice of optional units, as well as the core essentials of health & safety, teamwork, customer service and equality and diversity.
Level 2 Certificate in Leisure Operations (knowledge element)
This qualification is designed to provide park staff with the essential background knowledge which will enable them to develop their vocational skills. To support the learner they will receive face-to-face training in the core essentials of park operations.
Level 2 Award in Employment Awareness
This qualification is designed as an induction to the Leisure Sector. It aims to give the learner an understanding of the employing organisation, the leisure sector, and employment rights and responsibilities.
Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths and English
Functional Skills in Maths and English equip learners with the essential skills that are useful in everyday situations and in the workplace.
All parts of the Apprenticeship framework will be undertaken at the learner’s place of work. The assessor/trainer will visit your workplace regularly to carry out the training and to support the learner through the qualifications.
