Floristry is a creative and innovative career, with many diverse avenues to explore. Kingston Maurward College recognises this and has a growing suite of floristry courses to accommodate demand – the newest of which has been an instant success.
New monthly Innovation Workshops have been initiated to give advanced level students the opportunity to network and freely create floral designs within a design studio environment.
One of this year’s students set herself an additional project of organising a visit from international floral designer Gregor Lersch. The German Master Florist is internationally renowned for his unique approach to structures and floral art work, each design is bespoke and ‘truly Gregor’.
In recognition of his work, the theme of the College’s most recent Innovation Workshop was dedicated to his designs and concepts to produce a range of remembrance designs and art installations.
Kingston Maurward College will be welcoming Gregor Lersch to hold a demonstration to students and florists on 5th October and innovative workshops on 6th & 7th October.
Floristry Lecturer, Sue Morgan, said: “I am thrilled and excited at this amazing opportunity to see the work of Gregor Lersch in reality rather than just images in books. Our students are incredibly lucky to experience this Master florist first hand.”
Gregor Lersch is one of a few designers continually creating new design concepts, has won many national and international awards and prizes, published over thirty books and is recognised for his promotion of natural floral art.
