Salary: £15,796.04 per annum which is the National Living Wage.

Job Purpose: To provide caretaking, warden and security response during the night and provide cleaning and hospitality support for evening events.

Vision: We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and preferably experienced/qualified Caretaker and Security Officer to join our Estates team.  The Estates team is responsible for the management of the Estate ensuring facilities are fit for purpose and are well serviced.  The department is also responsible for the security and welfare of students, staff and visitors and to support the academic teams and commercial business.

Working as a member of the Caretaking team within this department, the post holder will assist with caretaking duties by performing compliance testing, frontline maintenance and reactive duties.  The post holder will provide proactive security patrols, respond to alarms and out of hours call outs when required as well as assist with the break down and set up of events at night, which will include furniture movement, cleaning and securing premises.

There will also be responsibility for the welfare and safety of residential students on the Kingston Maurward campus and the post holder will be required to respond to emergencies, call outs and locks during their normal working hours.  The post holder will need to understand and be compliant with National Care Standards and the safety of young people.

The successful candidate will have an SIA Security Guard qualification or experience. Experience and competence can be demonstrated from holding a previous standalone responsible position.  We are looking for someone to be self-motivated and who can work without supervision but also work as part of a small team.
