Course Title: Understanding the South Dorset Ridgeway
Course Code: CM014
Looking at the bumps and bones of this wonderfully historic landscape of the South Dorset Ridgeway (from Long Bredy to Osmington) you will discover how it formed, the story it tells of the people and animals who lived and died there and the flora and fauna that can be found there.
This course is aimed at those who have an interest in where they live. You may be retired, a friend of our Dorset countryside, a farmer or a parent/teacher who wants to inspire the next generation. Alternatively, you might be a guest house owner or otherwise involved in the tourist industry with a desire to pass the story of the Ridgeway on to local visitors.
The course is delivered as part of the South Dorset Ridgeway Landscape Partnership and represents an innovative mix of archaeologists, artists, historians, landowners, naturalists, teachers and most importantly local people. Everyone included in the partnership has come together to safeguard the South Dorset Ridgeway landscape, help people enjoy it and develop pride for an area that many experts consider as important as that around Stonehenge.
