The Retail Apprenticeship framework at Level 3 is designed to provide apprentices with the knowledge, skills and understanding they require to carry out their job role and to support their future progression within the retail sector. Level 3 apprentices will train as team leaders, department managers or store managers of a small outlet.



Level 3 Diploma in Retail Skills (Management) (QCF)

Course Content

The qualification comprises of 3 sections:

- Level 3 Diploma in Retail Skills covering a wide range of work based units for you to choose from including: Auditing Stock, sourcing required goods, manage staff to receive goods, maintain availability of goods, manage payment process, produce staff rotas, improve customer service and working effectively as a retail team member to support others.

- Technical certificate in Retail Knowledge providing a level of Knowledge of the whole retail Industry and covering topics such as selling, customer service, managing risks to health and safety, security and loss prevention, operation of payment process, effective store operations, team effectiveness and management of stock.

- Functional skills in Maths/or English depending upon GCSE achievement.

Entry Requirements

Candidates need to be working in a retail environment to complete the apprenticeship with the whole apprenticeship being carried out in the workplace. Employers are looking for applicants who have a keen interest in providing high levels of Customer service and can be flexible with their skills and either in a supervisory or management role or working towards one.

Career Opportunities

On completion of this Apprenticeship, apprentices will be competent to works as a Team Leader / Supervisor, Store Manager or Department Manager. Following further training and development, apprentices may wish to progress into more senior roles such as area managers.
