This in-depth two year programme will develop your coaching and instructing skills whilst giving you a sound and concise knowledge of sport and exercise science.

Offering the ideal mix between practical and academic learning, it will give you the opportunity to investigate a wide range of subjects including science and physiology, nutrition, sports injuries and the lifestyle of the athlete.

This course links closely with the sports and fitness industries to help advise and prepare you for your first steps into your chosen career.

Course Content

Year 1: During the first year of this course you will complete the units for the Level 3 Diploma in Sport & Fitness.

Year 2 units include:
Current issues in sport
Practical sport
Sports coaching
Sports development
Instructing physical activity
Exercise for specific groups
Rules, regulations & officiating
Organising sports events
Sports legacy development.
(Four units are exam based and are externally assessed)

Plus:
Entry in the British colleges' football league
Daily football coaching
First aid qualification.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at minimum grades 9-4 or A*-C, including English and maths OR Level 2 Diploma at Merit level plus Functional Skills at Level 2. You will need enthusiasm and a keen interest in sport and will be required to complete a work placement.
