City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Agriculture
During the first year you will complete the units for the Level 3 90 credit Diploma in Agriculture.
Year 2 - Livestock pathway:
Farm animal health and nutrition
Farm animal science
Year 2 - Arable pathway:
Spreaders and sprayers
Principles of grassland management
Combinable crop production
Farm mechanisation pathway:
Undertake land-based workshop processes
Repair land-based cultivation or drilling machinery
Mechanised agricultural crop handling and storage
The second year of the course also offers the opportunity to achieve further additional qualifications (subject to satisfactory attendance and completion of assignments) such as Telehandlers, PA1/2, ATVs, Safe Use of Veterinary Medicines and Animal Transport. Much of the training for these qualifications is included within the course and in most cases only assessment fees need to be paid by students wishing to achieve these additional qualifications.
The second year of the course includes a week long study tour to Europe.
4 GSCEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and maths and science OR a relevant Level 2 Diploma at Distinction level, OR an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Agriculture with good levels of English and maths.
Mature students lacking formal qualifications will also be considered. Enthusiasm, relevant practical experience and the ability to cope with written work is required.
Progression to the second year of the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Agriculture is dependent upon successful completion of the Level 3 90 credit Diploma in Agriculture.
