This course provides the knowledge and understanding required for the modern dairy worker. It will also introduce and develop key practical skills. All learners considering this course are encouraged to contact the course tutor to discuss the programme.

C & G Level 3 Diploma in Work-based Agriculture (Livestock Production)

Course Content

This is a 27 day course taught over 8 months that covers:
-Milking
-Selecting breeding stock
-Rearing young stock
-Controlling health and disease, including lameness
-Maintaining fertility
-Feeding dairy cows
-Keeping necessary records and meeting legislative requirements
-Housing and waste management
The course includes practical skills development, including training towards the City & Guilds (NPTC) Certificate of Competence in Safe Use of Veterinary Medicines. It is also possible for students to be entered for the City & Guilds (NPTC) Certificate of Competence in Milking by individual arrangement. The assessment fees for both of these additional qualifications are subject to an extra charge.

Entry Requirements

Normally Level 2 Diploma in Work-based Agriculture / NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification, or relevant industry experience for mature students. Maths and English at GCSE Grade D or Level 1 are essential.
