Additional qualifications include C&G (NPTC) Tractor Driving and Related Operations, C&G Level 2 Award in Safe Working in Agriculture, First Aid, Manual Handling and a two day shearing course. In most cases only assessment fees need to be paid by students wishing to achieve these additional qualifications.
Students will also be given the opportunity to develop their practical skills on the College farm, which will include occasional weekend and early morning duties.
The course is specially designed to produce students that are able to operate machinery and look after livestock to a high standard. It also provides the technical and management knowledge required for a supervisory or management post in farming or an allied industry.
4 GSCEs at grade C or above, including English, Maths and Science, OR a relevant Level 2 Diploma at Distinction level, or a Level 2 Diploma in Work-based Agriculture with good levels of Maths and English.
Mature students lacking formal qualifications will also be considered.
Enthusiasm, relevant practical experience and the ability to cope with written work is required.
Tetanus protection is highly recommended.
