This one year course is designed to teach the traditional skills of blacksmithing and welding and is ideal for those wishing to start their own business.

The programme contains a good balance of theoretical and practical modules and essential workshop experience which are supported by the planning and design skills required to be self-employed. We ensure all the techniques our students learn meet the continuing needs of the blacksmithing and metalwork industry.

Practical skills are supported by an additional certificate in creating and preparing to set up a new business, which covers the essentials of planning, finance and selling.

2 days plus one day work experience

Entry Requirements

5 GCSEs at grades A*-C, including English and Maths qualification at level 2 Level 2 qualification in working with metal An interest and enthusiasm in starting your own business

Next Steps

Further study in welding and engineering at Level 3 or 4.
