If you want to work with animals, this qualification is for you. It provides you with a range of specialist technical practical skills and knowledge which will equip you to seek employment or further learning and training within the animal care and management industries.
This qualification gives you the opportunity to study a range of specialist technical practical skills and knowledge that build upon the core skills required to include how to work safely with animals, be responsible for the planning and carrying out of animal husbandry, their health and handling together with their feeding and nutrition. You will also learn about animal behaviour, animal breeds and welfare and animal biology. You will study further specialist skills such as caring for exotics, birds and fish, or to develop skills for working in kennels, a cattery or a pet store.

This course forms the first year of the two year Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in Animal Management. Successfully completing the Advanced Tehnical Diploma in Animal Management will allow you to fast track directly into the second year of the Level 3 Advanced Technical Extended Diploma.

This course could also be an ideal choice for mature students who are seeking a career change. A separate group for mature students will be organised.

Exotic animal health and husbandry

Small animal rehabilitation

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs Grade C/3 or above, including English, maths and science. Recent experience of working with animals, together with a work placement in veterinary practice is essential. You must be preapred to work outside in all weathers with a wide range of animals.
