This course offers a mix of practical instruction activities and theory sessions so if you are looking for solid basic knowledge and practical understanding of the care and needs of animals, either as pets, on the farm, in the wild or in the workplace, then this is the course for you.
This course will prepare you for employment in a variety of animal industries or enable you to progress further in education, or train as an Apprentice (see next steps).

Maintain the health and welfare of animals
Introduction to caring for farm livestock
Understand British wildlife species, habitat and rehabilitation
Level 1 Certificate in Work-Based Animal Care
Functional Skills (Maths and English)

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at Grade D to G (including English Language, maths and science) and/or a Level 1/Foundation Level qualification and Level 1 Functional Skills. A genuine interest in animals and enthusiasm for working in animal care is essential. You must be prepared to work outside in all weathers with a wide range of animals.
