These qualifications are an introduction to the primary aspects of working with children and young people between the ages of 4 to 16 in play environments. They provide an understanding of the importance of play and Playwork in children and young people’s lives.

Course Content

The Diploma covers the knowledge and skills needed when working under supervision and requires the learner to demonstrate the full application of these in the workplace.

The Diploma is made up of twelve mandatory units - nine at Level 2 and three at Level 3 - with a total credit value of 45. It also includes a range of optional units. Learners will need to achieve all the mandatory units and then complete 16 credits from the choice of option units to bring the total credits achieved to a minimum of 61.

Entry Requirements

Minimum age of 16. CACHE does not set any other entry requirements but Centres may have their own guidelines. For the Diploma, learners will need to be working or on practical placement as they need to show competence in both knowledge and skills.
