Floristry is a creative, innovative and stimulating career and this course will give you the opportunity to gain an industry recognised qualification. It offers an excellent starting point for those who are seeking a career in floristry for both school leavers and the mature student. Covering basic floristry skills, we focus on how to use colour, texture and balance within commercial designs, funeral and wedding work, along with work experience in a retail florist. We have an excellent reputation for students participating in regional and national floristry competitions, and students take part in large floristry projects for the college to learn techniques in event scale work. You'll also benefit from industry speakers and demonstrations, along with opportunities to attend educational trips to venues such as Covent Garden and the flower auctions in Holland. Part time options may be available for mature learners.

English and maths for learners without C grades at GCSE.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs grade D or above, including English and maths. Mature students lacking formal qualifications will be considered based on previous experience. You will be required to complete a work placement. Previous floristry experience not required however a flair for colour and an interest in flowers and plants is an advantage. Tetanus protection is recommended.

Next Steps

Fast Track Level 3 - Subsidiary Diploma in Floristry. (The course can be used as a progression to further study on the part-time Level 3 qualification covering advanced techniques in wedding and funeral design with opportunities to work on large event work, gain further knowledge on display trends, techniques and perfecting workmanship for the commercial industry).
