Combining a mixture of theory and practical, this is a very hands-on qualification ideally suited to someone who wishes to investigate a career in horticulture and perhaps study further. No previous knowledge is required, but a willingness to learn new skills and develop knowledge of the world of horticulture is needed.

Course Content

Units include:
Growing trees and shrubs (selection, establishment, care and maintenance)
Growing flowers (herbaceous and annual plants, care and maintenance)
Lawncare
Propagating plants
Use of a range of tools and equipment
Health and safety
Plant identification
English and maths.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements. You will need an interest in a career in horticulture and gardening and be willing to learn new skills and undertake practical tasks. Tetanus protection is recommended.
