Diploma in Work-based Horticulture (QCF)
You will complete your e-portfolio of evidence with the assistance of your employer and visiting assessors. This builds on a series of bespoke sessions at college designed to give you the underpinning knowledge and understanding around the topics you need for your job - and for your future career in horticulture.
Subjects covered by all students include:
Promotion of Health and Safety, including First Aid
Ground preparation and establishing plants/seeds in soil
Specialist units may cover:
Amenity Horticulture: Establishing decorative areas, pruning and maintaining plant health
Hard Landscaping: Levelling, creation of structures or surfaces and fencing
Sports Turf: Maintaining, renovating and repairing sports turf areas and tractor driving
The completion of your e-portfolio will typically take 12-18 months.
Ability to achieve a Level 1 in English and maths.
You will be required to find suitable relevant employment.
Interview with Course Tutor required before offer of place on course will be made.
