This course is designed to prepare an Assessor to operate in the Active Leisure & Learning sector, both from a vocational perspective and a work-based environment. Successful completion of the qualification will enable the Assessor to work in either the public or private sector assessing learners on either vocational learning programmes or NVQ Awards.

Course Content

The Award is made up of 3 units: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment; Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding; Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment. A portfolio is provided to compile the qualification where both the underpinning knowledge and the practical skills of an Assessor are assessed.

Entry Requirements

Prior to registration, learners are required to be 18 years or over. It is also recommended that learners have an appropriate vocational or competency-based qualification at least one level above the qualification they will be assessing. To achieve the qualification, learners must have access to assessment opportunities in their own specialist area.

Next Steps

Once experience has been gained in assessment practice (suggested time period over 2 years) the Level 4 AIQA can be achieved to work within quality assurance.
