This Entry Level 3 course is designed for anyone who wishes to continue developing their experience of land-based subjects. So if you really love working with animals and the countryside, driving tractors, growing plants or outdoor sport, this is the ideal course for you.

You will be based in the safe and friendly environment of the Centre for Foundation Studies, learn subjects and develop skills that can help you get a job or carry on your education. Plus you can relax and socialise in small groups as you develop your social skills within the wider college community. We will work with you, your parents, carers and schools to ensure we are able to offer you the best support.

Our teaching team are experienced in working with students who have specific educational needs and a range of support is available to ensure you get the best from your study programme. Transition to college is supported through Taster Sessions or Link Courses for students still at school and also through our exciting Summer School.

Course Content

Units include:

Animal care
Gardening
Practical countryside skills
Work experience with local employers supported by the course manager
Outdoor activities
Tractor driving
Functional skills (English, maths and ICT)
Employability and personal development
Preparing for work
Life skills
Personal and social development
Tutorial support.

You will have practical instruction and on-going assessment in a range of subjects, plus portfolio building. You will be placed in small groups with additional Learning Support.

Practical assessment - both oral and written.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements, but you should be able to show that you can work at Entry Level 2 You must have a desire to work outdoors in a variety of practical land-based subjects We will also need full details of special educational needs and any other reports from relevant bodies or establishments to ensure that we are able to put in place the correct level of support for each individual learner.
