BHS Stage 3 stable management training programme is an excellent progression from the Stage 2 course. It is a packed practical course for those wishing to become professional equestrians and looking to take on a more supervisory role. It covers all aspects of general care and management regimes, together with preparing and caring for fit horses.
The riding training programme at this level may be taken with the stable management or separately. Learners will develop effective yet sympathetic riding, while maintaining a balanced, correct and supple seat in all gaits. You will need to be capable of jumping cross country fences at 3ft and show jumping fences at 3ft 3in.

Tacking up from 7.30 to 8pm, Riding 8pm to 8.45 and untacking from 8.45 to 9pm.

Course Content

Riding:
- Knowledge of school figures
- Correct influences and smooth application of the aids
- Riding horses forward through transitions
- Lengthen strides in all gaits
- Lateral work
- Work without stirrups
- Cross country - 3ft
- Show jumping - 3ft 3in

Entry Requirements

Enthusiasm and willingness to learn new skills. For riding, you should have achieved BHS Stage 2 riding or Pony Club B. All riding has a weight limit of 13.5 stones.
