Course Title: Advanced Apprenticeship in Outdoor Programmes
Course Code: OR075



On this advanced level apprenticeship you could work as an outdoor instructor, preparing, leading, and reviewing a series of appropriate programmed outdoor activity sessions in a safe, engaging and inclusive manner for a range of participants.

During your apprenticeship, you will study Outdoor Programmes qualification at level 3. There are three different pathways:
Outdoor Education
Outdoor Development Training
Outdoor Recreation

NVQ Diploma in Outdoor Programmes (QCF)

Course Content

You’ll cover key areas such as organising people and resources, good working relationships, conservation and health and safety of both customers and colleagues.

You can also choose options specific to the outdoor programme you lead, whether it’s for education, recreation or development training.

To achieve this qualification, you will need to complete 5 mandatory units:
Contribute to improving personal and organisational performance
Organise people and resources for outdoor programmes
Promote the conservation of the environment
Ensure the health, safety, welfare and security of customers and staff
Establish and maintain effective working relationships in the outdoors

Depending on your pathway, you then choose further mandatory units.

English and maths skills will be developed based on your diagnostic assessment and the requirement of the apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

You will need a keen interest in a career in this subject, be willing to learn new skills and undertake practical tasks. GCSEs grade 9-4 or A*-C including English and maths OR Level 2 Functional Skills. You will be required to find suitable, relevant employment.
