This course is ideal for those who are looking to progress their career in Horticulture and take the next step to becoming a supervisor or chargehand. You will build a portfolio of evidence at college and in the workplace with project based assessments on industry subjects.

You can follow two pathways: Sports Turf or Parks, Gardens and Green Spaces.

Diploma in Work-Based Horticulture (QCF)

Course Content

Learn via training at college, followed by additional assessment at your place of work and completion of projects based on industry subjects. The completion of your portfolio will typically take between 12-18 months depending upon your skills and experience.

Your portfolio and units selected will reflect your skills in planning, monitoring and evaluation, for example:
Estimate and programme resources
Manage drainage and irrigation
First Aid
Establishing grass swards
Evaluate ground and environmental conditions
Planning for Sports Turf or Decorative ornamental features
Manage pests, diseases and disorders.

Entry Requirements

GCSE A*-C or equivalent English and maths Level 2 Horticulture or related qualification you will be required to find suitable relevant employment An interview with the course tutor is required before a place on the course is offered.
