This course is ideal for those who are looking to progress their career in Horticulture and take the next step to becoming a supervisor or chargehand. You will build a portfolio of evidence at college and in the workplace with project based assessments on industry subjects.

This course can be taken as part of an advanced apprenticeship or as a stand-alone qualification and can follow two pathways: Sports Turf or Parks, Gardens and Green Spaces. Funding may be available for employees of small and medium sized enterprises.

There are two time options for this course: over one year - every Wednesday, or over two years - attending college every second Wednesday.

Course Content

Advanced:
Your e-portfolio and units selected will reflect your skills in planning, monitoring and evaluation, for example:
Estimate and programme resources
Manage drainage and irrigation
First Aid
Establishing grass swards
Evaluate ground and environmental conditions
Planning for Sports Turf or Decorative ornamental features
Manage pests, diseases and disorders.
The completion of youe- portfolio will typically take between 12-18 months depending upon your skills and experience.

Entry Requirements

GCSE A*-C or equivalent English and maths. Level 2 Horticulture or related qualification. You will be required to find suitable relevant employment.
