This is an Advanced Apprenticeship which will allow firefighters to build the knowledge and skills needed to perform their job role competently. Aimed at new and existing firefighters, apprentices will be expected to carry out a variety of duties, including responding to emergencies and rescue life and property, make areas safer by minimising the risks caused by fire and other hazards and work closely with the local community to help prevent fires occurring in public and commercial premises. Firefighters must be physically and mentally prepared as their role can, at times, be very demanding.

Plus further professional qualifications.

English and maths skills will be developed based on your diagnostic assessment and the requirement of the apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

GCSEs at grades 9-4 or A*-C including English and maths OR Level 2 Functional Skills. You will need a keen interest in a career in this subject, be willing to learn new skills and undertake practical tasks. You will be required to successfully pass selection in line with the Fire and Rescue Service recruitment policy. Experience of teamwork, sporting interests and voluntary activities are desirable.
