Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance Mascot Meets and Greets at College

As part of National Air Ambulance Week the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance was hoping to fly in to Kingston Maurward College but due to a last minute call out, Dasher the mascot stepped in to the breach – much to the delight of the students and Principal Clare Davison!

On call for twelve hours a day, the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance takes part in hundreds of emergencies each year – a total of nearly 10,000 missions since its launch in 2000.

The EC135 helicopter is based at Henstridge Airfield on the Dorset / Somerset border.  From there it can be at any point in the two counties within 19 minutes of receiving an emergency call, and can then take a patient to any one of the major trauma centres in the south west within a further 20 minutes.

Kingston Maurward students raise money for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance in various fundraising events throughout every year, including more than £2,200 this year in the annual Muckathon organised by Level 3 Agriculture students.
