Animal Festival supports National Pet Month
Despite the disappointing weather on Sunday, Kingston Maurward College went ahead with the ‘Animal Festival’ to support ‘National Pet Month’.
This national charity brings together organisations, professionals and pet lovers with the aim of improving the welfare of pets.
Every year across the UK usually during April, there are many fun filled events to celebrate our pets, encourage responsible pet ownership and raise awareness and money for local animal charities.
The College Animal Conservation and Welfare team had a fun packed day planned and although the outdoor events had to be cancelled due to rain, hardy visitors still turned up to join in the indoor fun and meet a variety of animals and reptiles.
National Pet Month runs from 7th April to 7th May. The charity aims to:
- promote responsible pet ownership
- make people aware of the benefits of pets for people and people for pets
- increase public awareness of services available from professionals who work with animals
- raise awareness of the role, value and contribution to society of working companion animals
