Introduction

Provides practical skills and knowledge needed to lamb ewes, and to deal with minor problems using the correct techniques. Also covers care of ewes and lambs before and after lambing, with emphasis on animal welfare.

Course Content

A two day course to give you the practical skills and knowledge to lamb ewes, and to deal with minor problems, using the correct techniques. The course also covers care of ewes and lambs before and after lambing. The emphasis is on animal welfare and is taught in a supportive atmosphere using the College 400 ewe flock and sometimes other local sheep flocks.
Content:
-Care prior to lambing
-Signs of lambing
-Types of presentations
-Using the lambing simulator
-Working in the lambing shed
-Tailing and castrating
Mainly practical sessions.
