This exciting one year course offers a balance between theory and practical based learning to give you a thorough understanding of horse management and offers a wide range of routes into the equine industry. British Horse Society training is offered as an integral part of your studies and students are expected to undertake BHS Stages exams. These professional exams equip you to work either in the UK or abroad and are well respected, international qualifications.
Successful completion of this course can give you UCAS points for entry into Higher Education or the skills to enter employment. The course includes work placement opportunities, enabling students to gain valuable skills and experience with a variety of specialist work providers. Careers advice is included and many students have secured jobs through their work experience.
This course forms the first year of the two year Level 3 Extended Diploma. Successfully completing the 90 Credit Diploma will allow you to fast track directly into the second year of the Level 3 Extended Diploma and complete a higher qualification.
C&G Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Horse Management (QCF)
Four days per week for one year
- Understand and Promote Animal Health
- Select, Fit and Evaluate Horse, Tack and Equipment
- Plan and Monitor Animal Feeding
- Undertake Stable Yard Management
- Understand Animal Anatomy and Physiology
- Understand the Principles of Horse Behaviour and Welfare
- Understand the Principles of Horse Rehabilitation and Therapy
- Riding and Exercising Horses
- Understand the Principles of Equitation
- Training towards BHS exams (exam fees not included).
4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including maths, English and science OR a Level 2 Diploma in Horse Care at Distinction Level.
A determination to succeed together with the ability to ride towards BHS Stage 1 Level or Pony Club C+ Standard.
A non-riding option is available.
The Equine Academy has a weight limit of 85kg (13 Stone 5 llbs) for all riders.
