Welcome to the ICEBreaker Project – a FREE new scheme which offers an innovative solution to the issue of language barriers at work…
The ICEBreaker project is a new concept in helping employers support their migrant workers in the workplace using specially designed materials known as ICE (Induction to Communicating in English). It is funded by the ESF and consequently is offered FREE to employers and their staff.
Employers with a migrant work force will recognise the huge benefits they bring to their business. They’ll also be aware that communication can be a problem, especially in areas such as Health & Safety. Most importantly, they’ll know that happy and motivated staff are fundamental to the success of any business and being able to chat with colleagues and be part of a team makes all the difference to them.
How does it work?
Our language specialist teachers train and provide ongoing support to one or more employees to become workplace coaches/trainers (known as ICEBreakers). The ICEBreakers can then deliver the ICE Programme to small groups of migrant workers to help them improve their basic English language skills. Sessions can be run flexibly in the workplace to fit around the needs of the business.Learners are assessed using a telephone system known as EALTS (English Automated Language Testing System).
What will it cost?
Only some of your time! It is absolutely FREE to businesses in the South West (excluding Cornwall) who employ migrant workers.
