Is it right for me?
A follow-on to Introduction to K9 Psychology (AC073). Includes: life stages of the dog from conception to adulthood, importance of socialisation, responsible breeding, recognising stress, aggression and conflict, nutrition, canine body language and communication.
What will I be learning about?
If you are looking for a follow−on to the Introduction to K9 Psychology, this is the course for you: for those wishing to expand their knowledge and understanding of the dog − from owners who would simply like to understand their dog's behaviour in more depth to professionals working in the canine industry. We look at the various stages and natural behaviours of a dog's life and the conflict this can cause with owners. Recognising the stress and reasons for conflict enable us to reduce it by using different learning styles and understanding the dog's language. The course is run one day a month for four months and is delivered through lectures, practicals and discussion forums. An assignment is set at the end of each day's course − this self−study underpinning further research and learning for the student.
