Is it right for me?

Anyone interested in gaining a wider knowledge of wildlife and conservation within a range of habitats will enjoy this course. Includes visits to see Dorset's unique wildlife and talks by prominent local ecologists and wildlife specialists.

What will I be learning about?

  • Ecosystem description and analysis
  • Species interactions
  • Farming and conservation
  • Countryside legislation and access including CRoW 2000
  • Identification of flora and fauna
  • Visits to a range of Dorset habitats
  • National and international case studies on wildlife conservation

What's Required?

Minimum age 16 years. Interest and enthusiasm. Ability to write short reports. Tetanus protection is recommended.

Assignment. Species identification tests.


What is next?

Full time courses: Level 3 Diploma in Countryside Management. Other part-time courses: hedgelaying, drystone walling, chainsaws, Level 2 or 3 Work-based Diploma in Environmental Conservation.
