Is it right for me?
The use of the pole pruner is one option for reducing the amount of time spent up a tree. This course gives the necessary instruction leading to the NPTC assessment. Candidates must already have a valid CS30 qualification
Please note: Assessment is carried out on a separate day by arrangement between the candidate and the appointed NPTC assessor.
Candidates must already have a valid C530 qualification.
What will I be learning about?
Under the Lifting Operations Equipment Regulations 1998 and the Working at Height Regulations 2005 workers are asked to consider all other options before working at height. The use of the pole pruner is one option we could consider to reduce the amount of time spent up a tree. The course will give the necessary instruction leading to the NPTC assessment.
Identify and inspect key components of the powered pruner
- Prepare the powered pruner to work safely
- Carry out daily and routine maintenance
- Operate the powered pruner safely according to practical risk assessment
What's Required?
Minimum age is 16. Tetanus protection is recommended.

How will I be assessed?
Observation of practical performance and questioning for underpinning knowledge.
