You may wish to bring your own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and chainsaw but they must comply with all current legislation. Alternatively, all necessary equipment will be supplied.

Is it right for me?
If you only need to use a chainsaw occasionally in a business or domestic situation, this four day LANTRA course has been designed with the occasional/part−time user in mind and covers basic maintenance of the saw and felling of small trees up to 8" in diameter using a range of different felling cuts. For the professional user it is strongly recommended you use the NPTC route.
What will I be learning about?
- Current health and safety regulations
- Basic maintenance to include chain sharpening
- Felling
- De−limbing and cross−cutting timber
What's Required?
Students must be aged 16 or over on 1st September of the year in which the course starts. No previous practical experience necessary. Tetanus protection is recommended.

How will I be assessed?
Continuous assessment by instructor for duration of course.
