Is it right for me?

You will gain background knowledge of the law and health and safety issues relating to these machines. A large proportion of the course, which is delivered in small groups, is dedicated to practical driving skills and manoeuvres.

Assessment to NPTC standard is an integral part of this 2 and a half day course. Completion of the Certificate of Competence in tractor driving (AG016) is beneficial before taking this course.

Summary :

Under HSE legislation, all Forklift Truck Operators are required to have undertaken appropriate training prior to using the Forklift Trucks. Therefore, NPTC provides this Nationally Recognised Qualification which supports this training and certificates the skills required for Forklift Operators. It covers pre-use safety, awareness of loads and safe operation of the vehicle. The certificate will be endorsed in the context of the type of vehicle used during the assessment.

Under HSE legislation, all Forklift Truck Operators are required to have undertaken appropriate training prior to using the Forklift Trucks. Therefore, NPTC provides a Nationally Recognised Qualification which supports this training and certificates users skills.
Candidates will be able to progress into employment in industry e.g. warehousing, building sites, agriculture etc. It demostrates that they are able to acheive to a certain level and may encourage progression onto further level 2 qualification, such as the NPTC Certificate of Competence in Tractor driving and Related Operations, or onto appropriate level 3 programmes.

Overal Assessment Method :

All NPTC Certificates of Competence are independently assessed by NPTC approved assessors who have no vested interest in the outcome of the assessment. This qualification is assessed by one-to-one oral questioning of the underpinning knowledge, and observation of practical skills.
