Academy of Agriculture

A course in modern agriculture at Kingston Maurward gives you the opportunity to work within a highly technical and fast moving industry. We have developed a wide range of courses, allowing you to build the skills and qualifications you need, using our extensive range of facilities.

You could be working with sophisticated tractors and machinery, milking hundreds of cows or adding value to a livestock enterprise. Competent staff with experience and qualifications are in short supply in this industry, and our courses can lead you to many varied agricultural job opportunities within this area.

Facilities include:

  • Arable unit covering 125 hectares, helping students understand and promote positive benefits to wildlife
  • Large fleet of state-of-the-art agricultural machinery
  • Purpose-built dairy with accommodation for young stock
  • Pedigree herd of 100 Holstein Friesians, 600 lambs and 17 sows
  • 85 hectares used for cropping and temporary pasture with a further 70 hectares of water meadows
  • Farm buildings housing rearing facilities, handling areas and accommodation for sheep, calves and pigs
  • Workshops to learn repair of machinery and cultivation equipment
  • Purpose-built cattle demonstration and handling area for student training use
